Good Day IVS Families!

Terry Fox – we had a great walk this week to celebrate Terry Fox and raise funds for his foundation and cancer research.  It is a wonderful week for our students to learn about such an inspirational Canadian and about the importance of giving back.  Thank-you to all for your donations and to those that joined us during out walk.  We reach our goal and exceeded $1,300 raised with what we have counted to date!

Kindergarten Registration for 2017 – It is hard to believe it is time to register your little ones who will be 5 years of age before Dec. 31, 2017 for Kindergarten already.  Kindergarten Registration week takes place at your community school each year during the week following Thanksgiving (Oct. 11 – 14).  It is important to register that week to receive important information as well as dates of the Kindergarten Events that will be happening this year.  Our first event is a parent information session later in October followed by the EYE-DA readiness assessment in early November.

If you don’t have children entering K in the fall but have neighbours or friend who do, please help spread the word!

No School Dates – a reminder that there is no school next week on Thurs, Oct. 6^th and 7^th due to professional learning days for school staff.  Also, there is no school on Mon, Oct. 10^th (Thanksgiving).

November Milk and Hot Lunch Ordering Dates – orders for the month of November open on Oct. 3^rd and close on Oct. 25^th.

50 / 50 Playground Fundraiser Updates

·        Prepay week is finally here so don’t miss this great opportunity! Families can prepay for the 50/50 fundraiser by sending in cash or a cheque made out to Island View school with their registration number. We will only be accepting advance payments until October 5^th and then we will have another week in January or February! There are only 33 draws remaining for this school year so if you would like to pay for the year it is only $66!

·        There is also a contest starting this week. IVS families have all been assigned a number to participate in our weekly fundraiser. However, there are still a lot of families who are not participating! If your family has not paid in the weekly 50/50 draw and you prepay $24 for October, November and December draws by October 5th. You will be entered in a draw to win a $50 gift card of your choice. You can prepay by cash or cheque made out to Island View School.

IVS 5K and 1K Fun Run – We are seeking individual able to volunteer for this event. If you can help out leading up to or the day of the event please contact Mrs. Goguen at trina.goguen@nbed.nb.ca.

Our annual 5K and 1K Fun Run is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15 so mark that date!  You won’t walk to miss this great event for the whole family in support of healthy active lifestyles.  Set a family goal and consider training for this run or walk event.
